David Goren
Former Partner (Retired)
David retired in 2020 after a long career as an attorney. He received a Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland Law School in 1973 and a master’s degree in Teaching Clinical Legal Education from the Antioch School of Law in 1978. David taught Immigration and Nationality Law at several law schools and gave numerous community presentations on the rights of aliens in the United States.
David was a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association for more than 30 years. He represented immigrants and U.S. citizens in all areas of Immigration and Nationality Law in private practice for more than 40 years. His experience included representing clients before the Immigration and Nationality Service and the Immigration Courts in Washington, DC; Arlington, VA; Baltimore, MD; Philadelphia, PA; New York, NY; Buffalo, NY; Boston, MA; Detroit, MI; Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA; Oakdale, LA; Harlingen, TX; and Houston, TX. David corresponded extensively with U.S. Consulates around the world.
David founded this law firm (formerly known as Law Office of David Goren) in 1978 in the District of Columbia and moved the office to Silver Spring in 1996. In 2017, Andrew Barreto joined David as a partner of what is now known as Goren and Barreto, LLC.
